A release schedule on Mozilla’s web site reveals that October 21 as a tentative date for the release of 3.5.4. Don’t expect anything major in the release as it will address security and stability issues most likely.

Of course we already know that Mozilla is working on Firefox 3.6 (Codename Namoroka), 3.7, and 4.
For those FireFox lovers, Namoroka should drop sometime in November this year. It will use the Gecko 1.9.2 engine.
3.7 should drop sometime around March of 2010. It will use Gecko 1.9.3.
Finally, Firefox 4 will likely be released in the second half of 2010.

Google rolled out an update to Google Sync today. Google now allows you to sync Contacts, Calendar, and Mail with your Google account. Earlier this year they launched syncing for the Calendar and Contacts, but today added the final piece.
Of course if you have an iPhone and already have an Exchange Account setup, this feature does you know good. You will have to stick with the IMAP connection and rely on fetch to update your Inbox. Perhaps Apple will allow multiple exchange accounts in the future?
Outlook 2010 as we previously noted allows up to 3 Exchange accounts on the same profile. Let’s hope the rest of the world will follow suit.

Microsoft published an update for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 today to address some application compatibility issues. The update is around 2 MB for both 2008 R2 and Windows 7, and applies to x86 and x64 systems.
The KB article states that a restart is required, but after the update finished installing via Microsoft Update, it did not prompt to restart like normal.

An update from an earlier post. Symantec has published SEP 11.0.5 on its web site.

You can read the full post from earlier today here.
Update: Downloaded and installed on Windows 7. The installer went through and uninstalled 11.0.4 and installed the new one. Of course a reboot was required when it completed.

Microsoft released the Tech Preview of the Web Apps last week, Sept. 17th to be exact.
The initial reviews are very promising. The Web Apps are tied to Microsoft’s Online Storage option, “SkyDrive”. SkyDrive is part of the Windows Live suite and allows anyone with a Windows Live ID free storage up to 25GB. Files must not be larger than 50MB though when uploading them.
As stated previously, the Web Apps version of MS Office will contain Word, Powerpoint, Excel and OneNote. It will be free of charge. Of course there are limits with the online version of the software, but transitioning a document from the Web version of Office to the full install on your computer is seamless.
MS still has a long way to go before the Web Apps suite is ready. This is long overdue and Microsoft has a lot of catching up to do with the likes of Google Docs, but Office is one of the most popular software suites out there. Many business rely heavily on it and Microsoft seems determined to make the online version of Office a success.

Catching up on this…
Mozilla published Firefox 3.5.3 on Sept. 9th. There aren’t any major changes that you would notice, but it is always good to download the latest and greatest version of the software. Especially when the majority of the release was to fix stability and security issues.
